Are you a small business or a large business? Do you work directly with engineers and scientists or do you support/supply the teams? Do you have technical knowledge/resources to share with STEM students? Do you plan on volunteering or making financial donations?
The list goes on and on when it comes to deciding what and how much to invest in STEM education engagement. And there is no shortage in the STEM education support opportunities for organizations (which is great!). So, making a corporate decision can be difficult.
Keysight’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (Michele Robinson-Pontbriand) recommends her “Goldilocks and The Three Bears” style to making the decision. It is centralized on the story’s theme of “just right” and how “just right” can mean different things depending on your resources, capabilities, and opportunities. She then gives examples of each level – Papa Bear (large engagement), Mama Bear (medium engagement), and Baby Bear (small engagement).

Rightsizing STEM Engagement – Goldilocks and The Three Bears Style!
When did Math and Science become something to dread instead of something exciting? Where did our curiosity to dream and confidence to build go?
To continue to build a future full of possibilities, we need to fuel the fire that STEM education creates. And as we most know, STEM is not strongly favored within our education system. Whether it is resources or gender stereotypes, there is a definite halt to the number of STEM-interested students in America today. We are determined to change this.
TEVET, along with our OEM partners like Keysight, encourages our youth to take an interest in STEM-related fields. See some of the things that we do with the link below.
