TEVET Named HUBZone Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2014

Each year, the HUBZone Contractors National Council recognizes a HUBZone-certified company that has made significant contributions to its community. TEVET CEO Tracy Solomon was thrilled to accept this award on behalf of TEVET at the National HUBZone Conference in October, 2014. Tracy’s ability to establish and grow a stable business through corporate innovation has significantly improved the economic, educational, and social quality of life in and around Greeneville, Tennessee through job development and community support.

Tracy Solomon established TEVET in 2004, leveraging his military training in the US Navy and entrepreneurial spirit to provide jobs for the rural, economically-challenged region of East Tennessee, while honoring his lifelong passion for the aerospace industry and providing for the national defense industry.

Growing up in Greeneville, Solomon saw many people lose their jobs as local companies moved manufacturing operations out of the country. Solomon chose his headquarters to be in Greene County, TN as a way to restore economic vitality in his hometown. Despite the lack of a skilled employee pool with knowledge in complex test & measurement, business, and defense marketplaces, Mr. Solomon partnered with industry and business experts to ferret out local, high potential candidates to train in the test and measurement industry.

Solomon and TEVET reach out to the community through membership in the Chamber of Commerce (Greene Partnership) and with regular donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Niswonger Children’s Hospital, and has been instrumental in the revitalization of the Capitol Theatre of Greeneville (http:// thecapitoltheatreofgreeneville.com).

TEVET is proud to have been named HUBZone Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2014, and Solomon knows that the award proves the importance of improving the economic, educational, and social quality of this historically underutilized business zone community.
