In 2021, the local Marine Corps League (Sgt. Elbert Kinser Detachment #615) held their annual golf tournament for their JROTC scholarship fund. As a Detachment member, Brian Fletcher (a TEVET employee) participated in the event.
To extend further support for the Detachment and the JROTC scholarship, TEVET (an SDVOSB, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business) covered the cost of the meal for all golf tournament players and supporters. Thus, this freed up more funds for the Detachment and the JROTC scholarship.
A cornerstone of the TEVET legacy is helping our community where and whenever we can. This extends across multiple areas – veterans and JROTC programs, local arts and history, children’s organizations and families, and more. But when it comes to our veterans, current service members, their families, and those planning to serve – we have a personal motivation.
Being an SDVOSB, we are owned and operated by a third-generation veteran. We are also staffed by veterans, across all branches. Furthermore, many of our employees who aren’t veterans have personal ties to family members who have or are serving in our military. And when we look to fill a position, we turn to our veteran population first. In a way, this is our extended family.
Take it one step further - TEVET is also a HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) small business. That means our community has great opportunities for growth and development if - and only if - local, successful businesses reinvest in our community. TEVET makes it a point to do so, over and over again.
