This past week, TEVET turned its hearts toward honoring our veterans through participating in Wreaths Across America.
Within our small-town, HUBZone community, we have an outstanding number of veterans – both living and deceased. The local Andrew Johnson National Cemetery – one of 1,600 national sites participating in Wreaths Across America – honored 2,000 veterans. This year TEVET helped support the cause by purchasing wreaths to be laid at the cemetery as well as assisting in the unloading and laying of the wreaths, and participating in the remembrance ceremony, held December 14th.
In a letter sent to Tracy Solomon, TEVET CEO, gratitude is expressed from George Collins, President of the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association, “When it was apparent that the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site could no longer fund all the wreaths, the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association launched ‘A Christmas Gift of Remembrance’ project. Numerous individuals and several organizations stepped up to bring us within 260 wreaths of our goal of 2,000. You closed the gap and thus all veterans will be honored.”
TEVET employees also took time out of their busy schedules and braced a frigid morning to deliver and lay wreaths at all veteran graves. They were joined by the local JROTC cadets, local veterans’ organizations, and others from the community in this effort.
TEVET believes in honoring those who have served or are currently serving our military. We actively employ, enable, and support veterans with our community.
And for those who have made the absolute sacrifice, we are forever grateful. To lay a wreath and speak the name of the fallen is only a mere gesture in what their lives mean to us, our community, and our nation.
