Jitterbug- TEVET Supports Dance for PD Class in Huntsville

Huntsville, AL - TEVET's goal is to create change in all communities that TEVET employees live in. Therefore, our community outreaches happen not only in our local, headquarters area but also in the communities of our remote employees. When there is change being made anywhere, it is a success for the TEVET team.

This past week, Sondra Wyatt (TEVET Account Manager) was able to help an organization close to her heart - Dance for Parkinson's (Dance for PD). In her local community - Huntsville, AL - there is a new chapter of the organization. Dance for PD is an international organization for people with Parkinson's and their caregivers. For over 15 years, it has been empowering participants to explore movement and music as an answer to their diagnosis. Through numerous studies, the effectiveness of dancing with brain development and cognition has been proven. But, most of all, it brings joy to a room full of people.

After having difficulties finding an easily accessible location for the participants, the chapter settled on a ballet studio. Yet there was another hurdle, they needed chairs for the majority of participants. That is where Sondra was happy to lend a hand. With TEVET's assistance, Sondra was able to donate over 20 folding chairs to the Huntsville's Dance for PD chapter - more than enough to support the current enrollment.

As Clarissa Sharp, Huntsville's Dance for PD Certified Instructor, stated upon Sondra's donation, "Dance for PD has brought me so much joy in watching my dancers learn the steps, move better, smile, laugh, and engage with the Parkinson's community. Truly, I cannot thank you enough. I am overwhelmed with gratitude."
