Investing in the Future - TEVET Supports Tusculum University's Growth

Greeneville, TN - With the recent name change (Tusculum College to Tusculum University) and the inauguration of the new president (Dr. James Hurley), Tusculum is setting the stage for a blazing a new trail in 2019. Their goal is become a first-choice destination for students in the Appalachian region. And to think, they are in our hometown.

Recently, TEVET was invited to attend the Inaugural President's Gala at Tusculum University. That night, community leaders joined the university's faculty and staff members to celebrate recent successes, share upcoming news, and to further strengthen relationships throughout the community. Highlights included: the new optometry college being named Niswonger College of Optometric Medicine in recognition of Dr. Scott Niswonger's service to the university, a new on-campus wellness center, and renovated residency halls for students.

“For us to remain successful and continue to advance, a partnership between all sectors of our university and our local and national supporters will be essential,” said Dr. James Hurley, Tusculum’s President. “All of us are committed to moving Tusculum forward, and the unified atmosphere at the Gala demonstrated our university’s best days remain ahead of us. We’re extremely excited and look to the future with conviction.”

With Tusculum's recent changes (and the many others that are still to come), TEVET is excited to support the university, its students, its faculty, and its staff members. The progress reflects the profound growth within our community. Whether it is new faces or new professions, our HUBZone community is benefiting. New possibilities and bright futures are coming to an area that hasn't been seen for awhile. And for us, that is what truly matters.
